Why Confident Spending?
Your bank shows what you have. We help you see what’s left after what matters.

What does Starting Amount (£ € $) mean?
It's the money you choose to use for this month. Enter it once. If more money comes in later, use Add money. You don't need to include money you're keeping aside for other purposes.
Do I enter any savings?
Only if you want to use some of your savings for this month. Otherwise, leave them out. If you are setting money aside this month, you can include it as a Personal Essential.
How is cash considered when spending?
Record what you actually spend in cash, just like any other purchase. Do not also record a cash withdrawal as spending if you will record the purchases made with that cash, or you would count it twice.
What happens to my Direct Debits or Standing Orders next month?
An Essential marked “Keep this Essential for next month” carries forward as unpaid. One-off Essentials do not. You can mark a recurring Essential paid when it is paid.
Do I have to mirror my bank account?
No. This is not a copy of your bank account. You choose the money and spending you want to include.
Can I keep savings in another bank account completely outside this app?
Absolutely. You do not need to enter savings accounts, savings amounts or bank details. Confident Spending does not connect to your bank.
What happens to my information when a new month begins?
You start fresh: the previous month’s starting money, money added and spending are no longer in the active records. Essentials set to repeat carry forward as unpaid. Your name, language and currency settings remain. There is no month-by-month financial history in this test app.
What if I make a mistake entering an amount?
You can correct your starting money and edit or remove spending and Essentials. If you entered added money incorrectly, remove the incorrect entry and add the correct amount where supported.
What if I spend more than I have left?
Confident Spending can show a negative figure to reflect a shortfall. It does not judge you or prevent you from recording spending.
What if I receive more money during the month?
Use Add money for wages, refunds, gifts or other money received after your starting amount.
What if I change my phone or delete the app?
Entries are kept in this browser or installed app on this device. They do not automatically transfer to another device or browser. Clearing browser data or deleting the installed app may erase your entries.
Does Confident Spending cost anything?
Confident Spending is free to use. No sign-in or bank connection is required.
What is the difference between Essentials and Spending?
Essentials are things you choose to set money aside for: bills, regular payments or personal priorities (a Saturday night out, a 🎁 birthday gift, a movie night, etc.). Spending is other money you use during the month. Do not record an Essential again as everyday spending when you pay it.
Does Confident Spending tell me what I should spend my money on?
Not at all. You decide what matters to you. Confident Spending simply helps you see what’s left based on what you enter.
